First time IPhone user here. When I got it I received a notification of update to 16.4.1. Thought its for good but got me frustrated. I am encountering this slow internet and logging apps. At first I thought it’s our service provider but when I checked my Android speed test it’s reached 300mbps while in IOS only at 6 mbps. I’ve done troubleshooting and YouTube tutorials to solve this issue. At most speed I get is around 15mbs.

Hoping to get this fixed soon.

For now, still heavily using android.

I've been having issues with both the cellular modem and the wireless modem. Calls drop every 1-2 minutes, and often I can't connect to wifi. It acts like it's connected, but can't load any websites or ping any addresses, or even connect to my nas. Packet loss on cellular is over 95%. I've been working with Verizon on the issue, and the most they do is tell me to reboot the phone, despite over 5 calls and assurances that someone was going to check signals and follow up with me. I never received any followups either. I do have a call scheduled with an Apple support super tomorrow, so we'll see what happens....

Same here. On a 14Pro running 16.4.1(a) and my wi-fi symbol has disappeared. Have reset network settings, rebooted router and phone, tried the airplane mode trick with no success. However, I disabled mobile data and am still able to navigate to some websites (like this one, and the Facebook app), but other apps (Speedtest, Marvel Snap) say I don’t have an internet connection. My wife’s iphone14 running 16.3 is absolutely fine.

My spouse and I both have the same problem. I have the 14 Plus she has the 14. After updating to 16.4.1 and subsequent 16.4.1(a) we constantly lose WiFi and when trying to join networks our phones just say "Unable to connect to network." I know the network is working because the rest of my network is up and running. This happens across multiple networks and no consistent timing. When we are connected to WiFi the speeds are much lower than normal and there will be times social media sites cannot even load videos.

discussions on the thread should only focus on the subject which is WiFi issues with iOS16.4.1 to not confuse other users.

you can start a discussion and post your issues regarding iOS 16.3.1 so other users with the same iOS version can effectively help out to resolve your issue.

so far on this thread even if apple already did a emergency update as 16.4.1(a) it didn't help as others still encounter the same issue connecting to the WiFi

I just discovered that my Wi-Fi isn’t working as well when I tried to connect my brand new Roborock S8 to home network and failed multiple times 🤦‍♀️. Apparently I’ve been on my mobile network all this time without noticing it since updating to 16.4.1(a) - the settings show that I’m connected to Wi-Fi but the Wi-Fi sign doesn’t show in the upper right corner and when I turn mobile network off there is no internet connection at all. Rebooting and resetting network settings didn’t help.

Apple needs to fix it asap!

With 16.4.1 connecting to any public Wi-Fi is impossible.

This posting is all about the discussion group and nothing has been done.

Can some supervisor get on top of this please and go ahead and get this fixed. Anybody please add your postings if you’re having problems with us right now which is a serious problem.

This is the link of the existing post things that people have been talking about for quite a while now, and nobody’s been doing anything about it:

IOS16 public Wifi problem | Apple Developer Forums

let’s go ahead and get this integrated for the next update please this is really an unusual thing. The password box should be enabled first off so you can add a password to your own little hotspot within the Wi-Fi unsecured network to get around this and it’s totally gone.

This is ridiculous so if a supervisor can’t do this, Apple, go ahead and have the next level upwards of supervisors. Go ahead and take a serious look at this, because the android people are starting to come up and numbers which means less phones manufactured in China for fusion unless Apple buyers so why have that when you can keep a market share.

Have a nice day.

Where is Apple Support!? Hello?

Existing issue through multiple OS version releases...

Apple: *sticks fingers in ears & closes eyes*

"Nope. We'll continue to ignore this and let the community address (as best they can) and hope they go away."

So, I manage a facility that has multiple iPads 50-60ish and the fact that this is a persisting issue through multiple updates and versions of the OS updates ...is unbelieveably frustrating. Then that frustration compounds by the fact that there are never any solutions to things like this. I have searched and searched and see variations to this issue going back to much, much older versions of iOS... tried all I've found in my searches and nothing resolves this issue and yet, Apple support is MIA. \endrant (for now)

My issues, just like yours @Fran-Siam and others. Here are my specifics:

Since the OS 16.4.1 through 17.0.3 updates we have seen this issue. Wifi disconnects, then reconnects. Sometimes it happens after a device goes idle, sometimes it happens while using. Sometimes in close proximity of an AP, others while walking enroute to another in our mesh network. I've attempted to adjust DNS settings, refreshing network settings, sticking tounge out and pressing buttons... still have issues on both iPads of various model version as well as iPhones where the wifi just drops then after sometimes having to go into wifi and actually click the SSID and *boom* reconnects. Other times, after some delays... say up to 1-2 minutes, the connection clears itself and re-establishes the connection. The devices are used for critical functions in some areas and has become more and more of an issue, yet cannot get any viable solution (the 1-2 min delays can be critical as a result).

My corporate is trying to force us to go to Android tablets because Apple refuses to add any SSO cross functionality and issues like this that persist are going to force our hands. Locally, we prefer the iOS devices but have no leg to stand on in fighting to keep and maintain them if we cannot either get support or solution to a persisitent issue.
