iPhone must be on iOS 16.4.1 to have savings account information and application to apply.

Yes, I read the link. It talks about adding money from a chosen source. Since the Apple Card is a credit card why would someone add money to the savings account using their Apple Card, or any other credit card, and not a bank account which is done through Apple Cash. Wouldn’t it be strange to make a deposit from a credit source (with a 20%APR) to the Savings Account (announced as 4.15%)? So you have some extra cash you want to put in the savings account. You add it to Apple Cash and then, using the Apple Card, transfer it to the savings account. You also cannot spend the money in the savings account directly. You have to transfer it to Apple Cash or a Bank Account to do so.

And the option just now appeared for me also @10:38 CST

Sounds unnecessarily complicated to me that the Apple Card would be the gateway.

The Apple Savings Account is not necessarily meant to be funded from the credit card (although there is the option to get a cash advance from the credit card and deposit that cash into the Savings Account). Its meant to function as a regular savings account, similar to a savings account that you would open at your local bank, or with a bank like Bank of America, Chase etc. The main difference with this account is that you can manage the account through the Wallet app; it is otherwise just another savings account. It is meant for you to deposit your spare cash into, as well as put the Apple Cash you earn from the credit card usage. It pays 4.15% APR right now, but that rate will rise/fall based on interest rates as controlled by the Federal Reserve.

You have to understand that the Apple Savings account is essentially a Demand Deposit Account with Goldman Sachs Bank; I'm excited to have it soon but at the end of the day, its a savings account that you get to manage thru the Wallet App on your phone.

Similarly, the Apple Card is a standard MasterCard issued thru Goldman Sachs Bank, but "private labeled" thru Apple, with the front-end Wallet app technology to manage it.

Apple messed up badly with the savings account rollout. I have no option to open an account on my card in the WalIet. Waited two and a half hours last night for assistance and then gave up. No one picked up at Apple. Used the chat option only to be told it was not their responsibility. Tried this morning to be told again this was not their responsibility. Incompetence. A complete disaster.
