Zoom freezes on MacBook M1 Pro, running 13.3.1

I am running a MacBook M1 Pro, running 13.3.1, recently purchased (last fall) and I am running into a problem with Zoom and no other program. I will be in a conference and Zoom will freeze and eventually bounce me out and run a reconnection. I have tried to reinstall the Zoom program, but that doesn't resolve the problem. I don't know if this is a wi-fi connection issue or something else. Do I just need another laptop? Any suggestions for diagnosis.

OK, that sounds like a memory availability issue. What may be happening is there isn’t enough free RAM to load Zoom, so Mac OS must do “garbage collection” on the available memory pool and possibly save running apps to swap space to make enough available to load Zoom.

Just before starting Zoom launch the Activity Monitor, click on Memory, and make sure Memory Pressure is in the green, and stays there after you start Zoom. If it isn’t green before launching Zoom restart your Mac and launch only Zoom.

This can happen if you haven’t restarted the Mac in a while. Open Terminal and type “uptime” to see how long it has been since the last time your Mac was started.
