DoesApple have a recommended successor to the Quick Time player?

  1. There is a version of QuickTime Player for all versions macOS, including the latest Ventura 13.3.1. As bundled software, its version and features are bound to the system software version.
  2. QuickTime Player for Windows has been discontinued and deprecated long ago (early 2016). It was for Vista and Win 7, never for later versions. Users are advised to uninstall. It isn’t needed, as what it added in capability, is available from bundled software or third party software that is more up-to-date.


For other uses, please elaborate.


For just video playback on Mac, VLC and IINA are very robust, versatile, and not picky about codecs and formats. (My recommendation, not necessarily Apple’s recommendation.)
