MacBook RAM Issue

Hi all,

My MacBook Pro A2289 is always at a high RAM level (consistently around 75%), even though I only have 1 app open (safari typically with around 3-4 tabs open). I installed BetterTouchTool which runs in the background. Is that using all my RAM? I have some apps that run in the menu bar and some that run in the background. Could they affect my RAM?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

click the column heading for "Memory" and the column will sort. if it sorts with Zero at the top, click again to get the biggest RAM user at the top.

If the memory pressure GRAPH (which you omitted) is green, you are worrying over nothing.

Since 10.9 Mavericks MacOS saves up previously read files and seems to fill up almost all available memory, by design. chased files can be freed in naisnstant to make room for program data.

"Unused RAM is Wasted RAM."

... it could be providing you with speedups.

Thanks. My hard drive with my photos, documents and logic files on it has 1TB (definitely enough). Could I use that or would I need to format the drive first? If, so I wouldn't be willing to do that, and I don't have any other drives...

I've now binned the aerial companion file and another file which shouldn't have been there.

I also found this (which came with VirtualBox) which I got rid of just now:

Launch Daemons:

[Not Loaded] com.BlueStacks.AppPlayer.bstservice_helper.plist (Not signed - installed 2021-04-11)

Executable: /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.BlueStacks.AppPlayer.bstservice_helper

VirtualBox is completely gone now - Was that supposed to lower my RAM? It's still around 40% with no apps open (ATM 70% with 2 safari tabs and finder).

Is there anything else on that EtreCheck I should change? Any other things I should remove to improve Mac performance?

You said in a previous post that my mac was probably struggling as (without me knowing) it was running an old version of VirtualBox in the background. Will my mac be quicker now tis gone?

Wow, thank you so much for helping me for the past few days and going out of your way for me, I truly couldn't have done it without you!

I received this Mac as a Christmas present from my dad so i don't think I'll be getting a new one any time soon! Once I get a job I would like to get a new Mac to maximise my Apple ecosystem. I think I'll get 512 Storage, 24GB RAM, and the latest Silicon Chip whenever it's time for a new mac. Thank you!!
