Washington Post page loads and disappears.

If I turn off JavaScript it stops, but then I can’t sign in and read the articles. I’ve been reading this page daily for years, but it has been a problem for the past couple of days. I had added some extensions, but turned them off. I’ve cleared browser history and cookies, turned off all experimental apps, tried mobile and desktop sites… maddening.

The symptom of a webpage loading - and then disappearing - is often associated with suppression of a cookie acceptance screen…

With the [disappeared] page on screen, tap the aA icon at the left of the Address/Search bar; a menu will appear. If shown, tap Turn Off Content Blockers.

The webpage should reload - and if present, you may see a challenge to accept cookies - which you will need to accept. Having accepted cookies, webpages should correctly load/render as expected.

You initial description states that you have “turned off all experimental Apps”. Please clarify.

If you have “turned off” all the settings in Advanced > Experimental Features, your Safari browser won’t work properly.

The “experimental features” page is perhaps poorly named - as this page includes advanced settings that influence many key configuration items; many of these items operate with reverse logic - where switching a setting to OFF actually enables the function. Fortunately, in recent versions of iOS/iPadOS, there is now a Reset option at the bottom of the page - that returns settings to recommend default settings.

Unless you know exactly what you are doing, you would be well advised to leave these settings well alone.
