"Video not available"

This message came up while I was watching a show on a Samsung TV: "Video not available. There's a problem loading this video. If this continues, check your internet connection."

It's not the internet connection--I turned on a show on another streaming service to check. What else can I do?

Can you disclose the show, so that others can try the same?

Does it happen for multiple titles in the Apple TV app?

If it is not a content provider issue …

Something is causing the app to be unable to contact the remote servers.

See if this document has clues that apply to your situation: If you can't watch or stream movies and TV shows in the Apple TV app - Apple Support

“Video not available” may mean no valid reaction from the remote server.

  1. Verify that your router doesn’t block Apple’s servers (or its CDN) through a firewall setting.
  2. Verify that your router doesn’t block ports that Apple services like to use.
  3. Verify that you use a good DNS on your router, like the one from your ISP, which gets updated with all server names that Apple might use.
  4. Verify that your TV has the correct date and time and timezone, as Apple may be more strict about that (TLS) than other content providers.

Else

  1. Check for TV OS software updates.
  2. Check for Apple TV app updates, if not set to do so automatically.
  3. Try resetting the Apple TV app.
  4. Try deleting and re-installing the Apple TV app, if possible for your device.
  5. Try restarting the TV.

Else contact the Apple Support staff for assistance.

Ted Lasso, Tetris.

Some users have also mentioned issues with the latest episode of Ted Lasso. It plays fine for other users, so it doesn’t seem to affect everyone. But enough to suspect a structural issue that may have its cause beyond each user.

Do consider contacting the Apple Support staff for assistance. At least it gets reported that way. With enough reports, they may start a back-end investigation, if not already underway.

This is also happening to me. Apple TV+ works fine on Apple TV box or on my phone, but not on Firestick. Started a week or two ago. Have restarted Firestick, empty cache of Apple TV+ app, have uninstalled and reinstalled app, logged out and back in. Nothing seems to work. This isn’t isolated to Ted Lasso. I haven’t been able to get multiple shows to work: Invasion, The Last Thing He Told Me, Morning Show. Random movies.

Very frustrating!

I hope you all have fixed this. The new release has definitely fixed the problem for me. Check for updates to your fireTVstick under “settings/myfiretv/about/check for updates”. I watched several shows yesterday and all good now. For me, the problem was definitely software version NS6298/4759. I updated to NS6298/4760 and everything works now. My other TVs are on NS6298/4758 and they all work as well. Good Luck.

The show was Ted Lasso

I got this message on several episodes of Ted Lasso, and on the movie Tetris.

All the content works fine on another (poorer) device, on the same internet connection

I don't know how to do 1-3 of your list of 1-4. I'll see if I can check the time zone thing tomorrow. It seems unlikely that would be the problem, though, because no one changed the TV's time zone setting while I was watching a show.

I can also look into 1, 3, and 5 of your list of 1-5 tomorrow. Realistically, though, I will probably just keep watching Ted Lasso on my poorer device until it ends, and then unsubscribe from AppleTV. I appreciate your help (and I see that you've advised other people who have had the same problem I have) but I have five other streaming services that work just fine on my big tv.

This is happening to me for first time ever and I’ve been having Apple TV for years. It’s not the internet cause ever other app works fine. I’ve already restarted my firestick and uninstalled the Apple TV app twice and still doing the same on my firestick. Also did video troubleshooting or whatever on app and says couldn’t find any issues. I can watch on my phone fine. This is frustrating and I really don’t want to reset the app and loose all my history but I don’t know what else to do. Anyone have any advice???

SAME. Info: Samsung Tv. Firestick. Apple TV was working fine. No recent updates to hardware etc. Cleared cache, rebooted firestick and so on then uninstalled and reinstalled Apple TV. It works on my tablet (same network) but neither of the 2 Samsung TV's in the house. Tried Invasion, Morning Show and Foundation... all same issue. Plays for approx 1 min then stops and says "Video not available. There's a problem loading this video. If this continues, check your internet connection." It's not the internet, all other apps working fine. Also ran the apple system check and it showed all as good to go. TY
