My experience echoes a lot of what has already been said on this thread. I subscribed to AppleTV in August and had watched several movies and a few different TV shows when, six weeks later, I started getting the "Video Not Available" message. In watching "The Morning Show," for example, I am able to watch the first minute or so before the error message comes up. I tried using the QR code and link.apple.com (with a unique code) several times to refresh the TV but the same message comes up every time.
I chatted and called into Apple Support and there may be problems with my internet connection. If that were the case, why am I able to watch part of The Morning Show and not the rest? And, why am I also able to click on other AppleTV shows/movies and watch parts of them as well? More importantly, how was I able to watch EVERYTHING on their website on my Smart TV for SIX STRAIGHT WEEKS without any problems until now?
Fortunately or unfortunately, I am able to watch AppleTV on my iPhone. Certainly not the best option when you have a room full of people who want to watch a show on your big screen. I am trying to find a way to mirror by iPhone of my 55" Samsung TV but I am also running into problems doing that - probably because my set is too old.
At this point, I am not going to continue my subscription unless I can figure out a solution. It wouldn't be worth watching future movies and TV shows only on my iPhone. What I don't understand is how I could have watched everything just fine on my big screen TV for six weeks and then, all of a sudden, I am only able to watch shows on my iPhone. It is not like I changed phones or TV sets. Everything is identical to the day I started my subscription.
I'm just glad there are other screening services out there to spend my entertainment dollars on; this one just isn't cutting it.
