I now have access to my sim card - should I cancel my account recovery?

I lost my phone while on holiday and could not initially sign in to my Apple ID because I didn't know the password - so I have requested an account recovery.

When I found my password, it still wouldn't work - I am assuming because I requested the account recovery, but I also realised I couldn't do two-factor authentication, so I didn't bother to cancel it.

I have the new sim with my old phone number, which is connected to my account - should I cancel the account recovery, or will I still be unable to get into my account?

The issue is I have had no update on the recovery, and my apple id contains my passwords for everything, it said it would take several days, but that isn't helpful because I have no idea whether it is worth cancelling it only to have to start all over again.

iPhone 11, iOS 16

From: How to use account recovery when you can’t reset your Apple ID password - Apple Support

If you remember your information and can sign in successfully, your wait period cancels automatically and you can use your Apple ID immediately.

According to that, see if you can now get a verification code.
