missing blood oxygen on iphone14

I just upgraded to iPhone 14 and Apple Watch 8. The blood oxygen & EKG apps are no longer available?? Also on my phone I lost my favorite nightstand central app. Seems like my upgrade is more like a downgrade. I know Apple has no control on whether a third party maintains their app but I lost Apple features. Is there something I am possibly doing wrong?

iPhone 14, iOS 16

If the apps were available in an earlier version they should also be available in the later versions. That seems to point at something like settings.

Check (again) your iPhone and Apple Watch are both on the latest software. That should be iOS 16.4.1 and WatchOS 9.4.

These two apps need additional setup, and you need to confirm things like your age. Did you follow the extra setup procedures detailed by Apple in:

OK, so the apps should be installed but it sounds like you can't see the icons on your watch face, to launch the app. Some random suggestions;

In the Watch app in your iPhone, go into My Watch and scroll down into the apps. You're looking for 2 items;

  1. Blood Oxygen. Tap on it and make sure Blood Oxygen Measurements is enabled.
  2. Heart. Tap on it, and make sure ECG App is shown as "Installed"

If the icons are still missing on your Apple Watch, try launching the apps using Siri to at least find out whether they work. I just tested. "Hey Siri, take ECG" got me a heart trace, and "Hey Siri, check blood oxygen" launched the oxygen app.

If the apps fail to open and are really missing from your watch, go to the App Store from your iPhone's Watch app and try to download again.

Are you within 14 days of original purchase? If you are and you bought Apple Watch SE, yes, they don't have the features you asked about. You can return the watch (it MUST be returned in the original packaging, with ALL accessories) for full refund within 14 days. Then you can buy the Series 8 (which is what you said you bought to begin with) which does offer these features.
