iPhone not showing in Finder

I am trying to access iPhone using Finder on my Mac via WiFi. It always used to work, but now the iphone does not show up in finder. I followed the correct procedures to enable the iphone hotspot and mac wifi. The mac says the iphone is connected, it shows the iphone connected in the wifi drop down list. System settings, network definitely shows the iPhone is connected. But the iphone does not appear in the finder sidebar. The finder settings has iOS Devices enabled.

I already followed what it says at

If your device doesn’t appear in the sidebar when connected to Mac - Apple Support

but it still doesn't work. I recently upgraded from Monterey to Ventura, maybe that's a clue.

Suggestions please?

If you connect your iPhone via cable to your iMac are you able to see it in the Finder?

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.
