GM all, my MacBook Air 2015 has been taking several weeks to update an app. Now it is coinciding with a software update so I cannot reboot the computer because there's "install in progress". Anybody know a way around this so I can reboot and get the apps to update faster?
You cannot restart or it starts with the "in progress" message displayed?
Option-Command-esc will bring up the Force Shutdown panel and there you can terminate an app.
If you cannot boot at all, try "Safe Boot": Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support
I suggest you need to reinstall the OS. From the Recover Panel if possible: Command R at startup.
