"Can’t update my software: Hey there! I've got a MacBook Air 2013 model, but I'm facing a bit of a software update dilemma. Unfortunately, I can't seem to update my software, which means I'm unable to download the apps I need on my laptop. It's quite frustrating, especially since getting a new laptop isn't currently within my budget. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated."

Why Updates Become Discontinued:
Your Mac cannot install the lasts of all updates because it does not have the hardware capable of sustaining its usage. So, take this as a good read to ponder upgrading. Note that Apple devices are typically supported for 7 years, and then updates no longer become and available feature.
There are Exceptions: They can be provided when a global issue comes about, such as COVID, and then the WHO (World Health Organization) requests that Apple provides updates for older operating systems).
