14 pro back glass breaks occurring in our company much more often than any other previous device.

Does anyone have a protective case suggestion other than Otterbox defender, to protect the 14 pro iPhone? My group received 4 new iPhone 14 pro’s recently along with Otter Box Defender series protective cases. Three of the four devices back glass have scattered from short falls off individuals hip. One device has broken twice in a matter of weeks. We have been using iPhones and otter box most robust protective cases for 15 years and never experienced failure like this. I have a physics minor, so I understand the laws or gravity well. I have a small hunch the battery could be inducing this premature failure of the back glass but do not have means to prove it yet.

I have a iPhone 14 Pro Max. I have had it only 8 months and went to just change the case and found the back shattered and the back somewhat bulging. I have had several other iPhones for years. 4 series, 5 series, and an 8 plus I had for like 7 years and I have never had such problems. It’s ridiculous that you pay over $1000 dollars for a phone and it doesn’t even last more than 3 months. It’s also ridiculous that I have to pay a $99 deductible to get not a new phone but a refurbished one but yet I’m still paying monthly on a broken new one. Apple should stand behind their flawed products. Apple phones are becoming more expensive but there is no quality. Apple you need to get your act together or some of us will turn to android.

I have had mine for less than a year and it is in a protective case as well (Apple’s clear iPhone case with MagSafe).

A short fall from couch level to floor shattered the back glass.

more disturbing is that my iPhone 14 max pro was brand new when purchased (deep purple) but the shattered parts reveal that it is actually green.

This is after I replaced it in the first month of purchase because the camera stopped working and gave me a message stating that the camera was a third party hardware that was not compatible. Both came from Verizon, both supposedly brand new.

Yep! Never dropped mine. I was sitting outside one day and turned the phone over to clean the camera glass to take a pic and noticed what looked like a piece of glass right beside it missing and I’m like wtf… took the case off and was like HOW???? I was very particular with this phone because my

daughter did push my 12 off a high bar table on accident and it landed literally face first on to concrete without a screen protector and I got a small crack across the front but never had an issue when that phone was dropped otherwise, and it worked perfect with the crack lol, just a freak accident and it didn’t hurt anything else. The 12 took a decent beating with accidental drops and did great so I bought the same case I had on that phone for this new one, so it would’ve protected it, especially the back. I never had overheating issues on any phone before either, same chargers - all bought from apple.

I've had my iphone 14 pro since launch and as sad as it is to say, in the last year i broke the back glass twice (with two different cases). First time was with a Mous case, but it was an unfortunate angular fall on the camera (lenses survived but back glass broke). i tried UAG this time (yet another 'unbreakable' case) and this time the phone fell flat on a wooden surface, and the phone back is shattered once again, even a piece is slightly raised.

The iphone XS only had the front screen breakable, whilst the back never broke. Now its the exact opposite, the front never broke. It's a shame but i'm not planning to fix the back again to waste almost 500$. I'll just wait till the iphone 17 pro, and will only fix it if the situation is dire or the price will drop to 200$. If you wear a phone case what's the difference if the back's broken.

I went to wipe my camera lens to take a picture and noticed my back glass was broken around my lenses. When I took it in to have it looked at for repair and they took my case off to find out the entire back was cracked also. The guy told me Apple won’t replace the back glass on the 14 pro max but will replace my phone with a new one. When I took it back 4 days later to pay my $99 deductible and put the order in, the guy working that day said he knows nothing about Apple not replacing the glass anymore. He hasn’t heard of it and doesn’t know why they would replace with a new phone. So I came to this forum to see if anyone else has had the same issue. You are the first one that I came across saying the same thing, and fairly recently also. Did they replace your phone with a new one? I will not know what they are doing with mine until the order processes, 5-7 days.

I have an iphone 14 pro max with an otterbox defender case. My phone fell face down on the pavement--on the front screen. I have a screen protector that didn't even scratch, but the back glass shattered. I have never had any kind of problem with any other of my iphones. I feel that this a total defect on Apples part. So. now I have to pay 200 dollars to get a local company to replace the glass. That is messed up. I am 17 months into my 36 month contract.

Knock on wood, back has not broken yet, but my phone consistently gets hot, and I regularly get the message that it will not completely charge because it is too hot. I do not understand that at all. I even take it out of the case when I need to charge it and it still gets too hot?? by the way, this is my second iPhone 14 Pro. The first one did crazy things. I would open it, unlock it, and icons would be in different places than where I had put them. Some would be missing altogether. I took it into the Apple Store after phone service could not help me. And nothing online had an answer for it. of course the Apple support people in store kept telling me there was nothing wrong with the phone and it was something I must be doing. I have had Apple phones since they first came out. Finally, when the phone itself refused to take an update, Apple agreed there was something wrong with the phone itself and replaced it. Now this one does weird things all the time like taking screenshots entirely on its own. It will be sitting on a table and I will pick it up and there will be a screenshot it has taken. Weird stuff like that all the time. I will find apps open on screen that I never opened . If I believed in hauntings, I would say it was haunted. But I know better. Just screwy.

Same, I have had Apple products for more than 12 years, bought a 14 pro and a few weeks out of warranty and the back glass is shattered. I haven’t dropped it and it gets very hot when charging. I went to Apple Montreal when there for work and they said $650 for repair or just buy a non clear case so you can’t see it, or put sellotape over the cracks so the pieces don’t fall out! They hadn’t heard of it happening to anyone else…. 🤔 I’m not so sure, looks like wireless charging may be a flaw

I've had my iPhone 14 Pro Max for a year and 4 days. My coverage just expired. I put my phone down on the counter and the whole back of my phone shattered. And I mean SHATTERED. looks like my camera touched the counter first then shattered the back of my phone. I’m so upset. I called Apple for a grace period on my warranty and they said there’s nothing they can do. Sorry? I have always gotten iPhones, this is horrible service. This also seems to be a common thing. The camera sticks out way too far and is shattering back screens for NO REASON. They also quoted me $716+hst for my back glass. Is that a joke? The iPhone 15 replacement is $630 to get the FRONT AND BACK fixed together. Apple clearly knows this is a flaw and is too scared to own up to it. Look at the price differences. We have to pay more for one glass on the second newest phone. Someone please tell me how this makes sense.

I have the iPhone 15 max pro and my back glass has broke twice in 7 months. It’s also in an otter box case. Just before I bought my 15, I had the 14 max pro for 9 month and the back glass broke and costed me 800 to fix. I bought the 15 because it mentioned it had a titanium back. I’ve spent in a year and a half 5k on iPhones and I’m now saying screw them and switching to Samsung

Yes, my 16 year old grandson's iPhone 14 Pro overheats all the time. He told me he did not remember dropping his phone with the heavy Otter Box cover and he really thought the overheating battery caused the Corning Gorilla Glass to shatter. My iPhone 13 gets so hot I have to take the case off and cool it down with an ice pack. When I go to his baseball games, I bring my ice bag I use for injuries with me for this purpose. Really? I am an IT professional with extensive experience in building tower to laptops and I also supported Blackberry and early iPhones in a former job. So, to answer your question, yes, I think the batteries have something to do with it and I am upset with Apple. I posted a reply to another entry here with more information on this shameful situation with Apple.
