Switch two phones to CarPlay

Hello

I just bought wireless adapter Ottocast U2-AIR-2023 for my Mazda CX 30 2023

I have two users to drive the car I.e. myself and my wife.

E.g. if I drive the car and use CarPlay it works fine. The problem is that next time my wife is driving the car alone adapter fails to connect to her phone. It looks like it still has ‘memory' of connection to my phone.

Only new pair her phone to adapter or even pull out and back adapter USB might help.

My question:

is it phone or adapter issue?

Should I replace adapter for another one (it’s still under warranty) or try another brand?

Is my expectations correct that CarPlay should switch between phones quite flawlessly?

Thanks

Ottocast U2 Air only remembers the last phone connected. So if your wife’s phone was the last connected and next ride both your and your wife’s phones are in the car, it will connect to hers. If just you snd your phone are next ride in the car it will NOT connect to your phone. You will have to get the adapter to “forget” your wife’s phone and reply-establish the connection to yours - which should be automatic once your wife’s phone is removed from the adapter’s memory; but now it will remember your phone …

Not at all what I want, so I will be looking at other brands.

It is an adapter issue. It appears that the adapter is unable to store multiple phones in memory and identify and connect to those saved phones. It would be just like how your car manages Bluetooth connections.

The other thing is that the adapter may only manage one device at a time. It may be operating normally. Refer to the owner’s manual and determine whether it can manage multiple devices.

Thanks for advice

Adapter Manual doesn’t mention how many phones it could handle.

My simple logic is: it was able to connect nice my phone and my wife phone with no issues. Now I want to connect one of while another one is not around and fail.

It couldn’t be that it handles only one phone at all.

It doesn’t sound to me reasonable that any phone should be paired and unpaired again if another one was used
