Can I connect my iPhone as a Bluetooth device and CarPlay simultaneously?

I have a 2025 Subaru that supports wireless CarPlay. The first thing my dealer did was pair my iPhone to the car as a Bluetooth device. Worked great.

On to CarPlay. I was able to set it up and it works great but under Devices (on the Subaru), my iPhone displays as Disconnected. So CarPlay replaced my iPhone Bluetooth device and disables it? If it’s not needed, I can delete my iPhone and just use CarPlay.

What I don’t know is if the Subaru Starlink apps need heneric phone communication to communicate with the mothership.

i guess the first thing I could try would be to delete my iPhone, leave CarPlay and see if it breaks anything. Has anyone been through this CarPlay quagmire?

Leave it alone.

The way wireless CarPlay works is the phone first connects to the head unit via bluetooth, then negotiates to connect using WiFi and effectively disconnects from bluetooth once that's done.

Just leave it the way it is.
