Missing Mailboxes

I recently updated from El Capitan to Catalina on my iMac. Now some of my mailboxes and the messages they contained are missing. Most of them seem to be in Library/folders/mail/v7. I also exported all my mailboxes to an external hard drive before upgrading. What is the best method to recover the mailboxes and their messages.

IF you have the mailbox folder, copy it to the desktop of your computer, and then use the Mail menu -> Import Mailboxes option. Alternatively if you cloned or made a time machine backup, the Migration Assistant can bring the settings over from that backup

Keep in mind you want both what was in Users -> yourname -> Library -> Mail and Users -> yourname -> Library -> Mail Attachments if you pulled the folders out of your Library folder at the same folder level before import. Newer OSes may not have Mail Attachments.
