Hi,
When I'm trying to call someone, my iPhone redirect me to the Instagram app instead of starting the call.
The issue isn't occuring for every contact in my phone, but it happens with some contacts.
There is no way to call them and in every single try it keeps redirect me to Instagram.
I have the latest iOS 16.4.1 (a) software. any solution for this issue?

Hi guys, the solution is very simple.
The phone gives you a choice to choose which number will you dial when you press phone call button in contacts. It should always be mobile or home, but it is not. But actually this is ok because you can choose if there are more phone numbers in contact.
The contact number (person behind this number) has also a lot of apps that he uses for calling and your iphone recognize them(incuding other apps)… probably.
so…
solution..
go to contacts, choose your contact person… press and hold the phone call button… a new window will appear and than coose the “mobile” number.
it works for me fine, the instagram app doesnt open anymore.

I’m not talking about the invitation or whatever you’re talking about I’m talking about the person that replied to that information I was given previous. Apple is irritating me there’s any people round and round not giving the proper information back. I’m having this issue too and I’m ****** off so please don’t tell me that I have my fax wrong or right.

For those saying “off load IG” this is NOT a problem with IG. I’m having the same issue, except it’s opening FB Messenger.
This is an iOS problem!!! And it’s not the 1st time it’s happened. Apple needs yo fix this!!!
I’m having the same issue with my iPhone 11 with software version 16.7.1 the number is not stored and if I try to call it goes straight to Instagram. With it not stored there should be not link to instagram in the first place. This is trying to call a number that has already sent a text but is not stored. Is this a back door left open in the security system allowing fishing and data access? It sure looks like a system file corruption problem giving them unfettered access to all my data if I ever seen one before. With so many people having this issue with all different models of phones and ISO the source code might have been compromised. They can lay asleep and be undetected then access data at any point in time from the time you press call as that made the link and saved it. Just my 2 cents but who am I?

I puzzled how even after restarting the phone the problem continues .. I have couple similar issues with the phone… regretting buying this 14pro model

How did u clear your cache on your iphone
I am having same issue. tried to clear cache. unloaded instagram but it opens Whatsapp. there is a issue and cant call back directly to number from phone call history.
Me too, also I tried to call an office phone number, and keeps directing me to WhatsApp call,.
Same happend to me.
Like you said, if you press the number it's fine, but pressing the icon with the number it goes too instagram
This is also happening to me and I have tried everything suggested and it keeps happening.
nothing suggested has fixed it for me either.
Apple used to have the best phone technical support of any company and their Genius Bar was aptly named.
Now it’s a complete joke.
I am facing exactly the same problem.
After I uninstalled instagram, it is opening LinkedIn now 😅
