Is there an app that facilitates adding text to a photo?

For years a certain Bible app that I use has facilitated allowing the users to add the verse of the day to their own photos, with the ability to select from a wide variety of fonts and then the ability to scale and select color and gradiation from a pallet. This feature has gone away. Therefore, I am searching for an app that will allow me to do this. I want to be able to add text to my photo, scale the text, choose from a variety of fonts, select the color of the font, etc. on my iPhone or iPad. Do any apps come to mind that would do this?

I’ve settled on AddText. Their free version seems robust enough and is easy to use. If I have access to my Mac, actually using Preview is good enough! Thank you for all suggestions!

Keynote actually really helps me when creating graphics like you explained. I currently use it for my social media managing job. It’s a really versatile app! You can find out more here: Keynote - Apple.

You could try the Markup extension on your iPhone or iPad. It can be called from several apps, also directly from Photos. You can add text or draw graphics. See this manual page: Draw in apps with Markup on iPhone - Apple Support

I have not! As I just got a new M2 Mac Mini, I will look at that!

But, for my purposes, I really want an app for my mobile devices as quite often my Mac is not convenient to access during my devotional time and when I’m away from home. Thank you for this tip and I will investigate Preview while continuing to look for something mobile. 👍

Ok, have Skitch a try. And, I’m keeping the app! It will be useful for many reasons…. But, it’s not what I can use for my devotional illustrations. Only one font. Just a select few colors. Just not robust enough for the purpose I have in mind.

However, I appreciate the suggestion and will use Skitch for other designs!
