Permanently disable PTPcamera (found hack)

Hello everybody,

I have encountered the problem with the thread Permanently disable PTPcamera - Apple Community named "Permanently disable PTPcamera".

ptpcamera prevents android file transfer from connecting to my phone.

I have tried many things, but it is impossible to disable or uninstall ptpcamera.

Here is the workaround solution I found:

In a terminal, run:

while ; do; kill -9 $(ps aux | grep "[p]tpcamera" | awk '{print $2}'); done

ignore error messages : "kill: not enough arguments"

Then :

connect the phone: wait for the "unable to connect" message

close the error window

authorize the connection on the phone

the browser should open correctly."

Commander One Pro - Error:

Could not connect to МТР device.

Most probably it is being in use by "pid1838, ptpcamerad" software.

This is the only working method that helped me to connect my Android smartphone via MTP protocol.

As long as the command runs and shows errors "kill: insufficient arguments." - it is possible to connect the smartphone to macOS.

Thanks

It seems Apple broke EOS Utility 3 again 🤬. Recently I was able to kill `ptpcamera` process manually and connect my EOS R to EU3. Now after the last update it is called `ptpcamerad` and it's impossible to kill it anymore. Looks like that workaround works until Canon fix EU3. Hey Apple, is it really rocket science to make it possible to diable that service at all?
