Apple music always plays the same song at the top of your songlist every single time.

Whenever I plug my phone into my car and have the auto play feature on, Apple Music always plays the same song that sits at the top of my music library. This happens with everyone, for me the song is A.D.H.D. By Kendrick Lamar. It will play whatever song starts with ‘A’ or is the top of your alphabetically ordered song library.

Yes, I get that I can turn off the auto-play feature so that songs stop automatically playing whenever the phone is plugged in.

Thiss does not solve my problem. I actually like the auto play feature. What I want, and what I believe the entire apple community wants is for Apple Music to shuffle my music and keep the shuffle feature on just as you can keep the auto play feature on. Why does the music app reset all the time? There is no telling when the app resets itself and turns off the shuffle feature. I want a natural experience of hopping into my car and turning on the radio to a random song that’s playing, not the same cringy opening lyrics every time.

Hello Aysa1337,

We completely understand the issue you're describing. Auto-play functionality is not an iPhone feature. We've heard reports that in some cases auto-play with resume the last song that was played, some will start with the first song in the library, and others will not auto-play at all.

This is usually caused by how your car request to play music from the connected device. Since this isn't a current feature of iPhone, feedback is your best option. If you'd like to provide feedback to Apple or request a feature, you can do that, but you'll want to so do it in the right place.

As this is the Apple Support Community, a user-to-user support forum, you'll want to submit feedback directly to Apple, here: Product Feedback - Apple

Alternatively, you can try to contact your car manufacturer for more help or to see if there are settings you can change on your car's radio.

Thanks.

Hello Aysa1337,

If your device is automatically playing music when you connect it to your car, you'll need to reach out to your car manufacturer for help. CarPlay and Bluetooth on iPhone do not have auto-play features to turn off or on. This is usually caused by your device (in this case, your car) requesting to play music when your iPhone is connected.

If you'd like to provide feedback or request that Apple make auto-play features, you can do that here: Product Feedback - Apple

Thanks.

If you take the time to read over my question, you’ll see that that isn’t the answer I’m looking for. I said “Yes, I get that I can turn off the auto-play feature so that songs stop automatically playing whenever the phone is plugged in.

This does not solve my problem.”

My issue isn’t that the car is automatically playing my music. It is that Apple Music, doesn’t know how to properly shuffle music, and keep the music shuffled, for an authentic listening experience.

My request is that in future iterations of Apple Music, they should code it so that my library is permanently shuffled unless I change it, and that these apple discussions don’t fall on deaf ears.

And if you’ve dealt with Apple Music you will understand my problem, as it happens to everyone. Your music will always play the the first alphanumerically ordered song first.

My wife started having this problem when she pauses Audible, change headphones, still sees Audible paused on the Lock Screen, hits resume on the headphone, and iOS starts playing the first song in her library.

Just started doing this. Seems like a bug. Especially since there is an uptick of reports lately.

She uses newer Apple made Beats headphones.

I have this same issue. It's so annoying. A-Punk by Vampire Weekend for me too. Why oh Why does the iPhone work this way? Clearly 100's of us have this issue, and we all don't have the same car or car stereo, it's a common problem with the iPhone and/or the iOS music app.

I can't believe the best solution offered is to put a song called "A a a a a a a" into my iTunes music library. C'mon Apple, you can do better.

I don't understand the "this isn't an Apple feature" comment - the way car audio systems have worked forever (since the 1950s when we only had AM radio) is that whatever is going on when you turn the car off starts up again when you turn the car on. AM, FM, 8-track, cassette, CD, MP3, bluetooth, etc. This is fine with me. Clearly when the car and the iPhone reconnect, the iPhone is doing something terribly wonky.

I think the iPhone should just resume playing what it had been playing, continue with the same playlist or shuffle, etc. That would be a seemless experience as you move from car to earbuds and back into the car....and of course I should walk into my house and the playing picks up right where it was.

I obviously am here because I have the same issue and I would like to see an answer to turn it off completely because turning off auto play does not solve my issue. It will automatically play a song when plugged in even when turned off and my only guess as to why is because it pads Apple Music stats for plays. It is psychological torture. About to switch to Spotify
