My MacBook Air is stuck on an install and unable to cancel it.

My MacBook Air is stuck on an install and won't finish. I'm trying to shutdown my computer but it won't because of this product install. What do I need to do to cancel this install?

Erase option greyed out in Disk Utility I want to on-sell my MacBook but the “erase” option is greyed out in the Disk Utility. Any ideas?

Press and hold the power button until the screen goes black. This usually takes about 10 seconds or so.
