Why does my Music start playing automatically when I plug in my headphones?
this is very annoying. Just because I plug in my headphones doesn’t mean I want to listen to music right now. How do I get it to stop?

Me too. This is crazy. I’ve Googled this to the Nth degree and every solution suggests something my iPhone does not have. Auto play, up next, 3 dots and lines, nothing exists like they describe. And I’ve done a page by page in all the settings. Nothing obvious jumps out.
I’m running the same iOS as you on a 13 Pro Max.

This appears to be working for me, finally.
I went to Settings / Music and turned Show All Purchases off.
It's clunky but so far it has been working with my headphone adapter.
iOS 15.6.1 on an iPhone 8.

I tried Settings / Music and turned Show All Purchases off, but the music still starts automatically when I plug in my earbuds even though I did not intend to listen to music. It’s very annoying.
