Title font in Final Cut Pro reverts to default Helvetica

In Final Cut Pro, I have projects that use the Open Sans font. When I move to a different computer and open the project, the titles appear with the default helvetica font instead even though Open Sans is installed.

I have Adobe Creative Cloud and sometimes deactivating or reactivating the Open Sans font there helps. But not always. It's very confusing and makes it very difficult to collaborate with others.

Unfortunately, I need to use the Open Sans font for many projects.

Does anyone else have this issue? How do you deal with it? Thank you for your help!

Okay - then your problem really is likely with Adobe Creative Cloud. Adobe says the font will work with any other Mac application, but I don't believe that is always true. [Years ago, even before "creative cloud", I used to have similar problems. (I haven't used any adobe products since about 2010/2011.)]

You will probably need to install a copy of Open Sans in your System with Font Book. It will be necessary to deactivate the Creative Cloud version.

Open Sans is a free Google font which you can download and install by itself.

Going all the way back to 1984, Macs have not been able to deal well with "duplicate fonts" very well. Since Adobe is "injecting" it with their system and you have it installed in Font Book, Mac OS might not even know there is a duplicate.

The easiest thing to do is switch it off in Adobe Creative Cloud (that doesn't technically uninstall it, but it will keep Adobe from trying to "register" the font in the system.) You could optionally open Font Book, find Open Sans, right click on it and select Disable Open Sans Family.

Only have one version active at one time. The version installed with Font Book should be available to every application, even the adobe apps. I'm not sure if fonts installed with ACC are available to all non-adobe apps.

Thanks fox_m for your response and time.

I already have Open Sans installed with Font Book. And the issue occurs still.

I wonder if doing this: Clearing Office font cache in OS 10.13.2 - Apple Community would help?

I agree with you that there seems to be a link with Adobe Creative Cloud and the fonts there but unfortunately, I often use Photoshop & After effects so I can't constantly remember to turn on or off the Open Sans font in there.

Open Sans is used in so many projects I deal with. It's surprising that no one else has the exact same issue or have a fixed for it. One thing is certain though, it's confusing, annoying and a big time waster. :(
