Ask to buy not allowing review

I am getting my child’s app requests but instead of the notification saying “review request” and giving me the options to approve or decline, it just says “view in store” and takes me to the App Store with no options to approve. It has previously worked as expected and just changed. Any help for how I can get to to work again?

So Apple. It’s October 12,2023 and this is still an ongoing issue with parents/ guardians wanting to approve apps for our kids. I have viewed all of the comments and Apple has YET to reply or let us know you’re looking into this definite bug issue.

Please update.

Apple just doesn’t care. I opened a ticket with them about this issue a while back and was assured by the technician that he would stick with me until a resolution was reached. Not only did he not do that, but he completely failed to follow up with me at all, as promised. I posted multiple requests for status updates in the ticket but heard nothing back until I finally received an email stating that the ticket had been closed. Didn’t Apple used to pride themselves on customer experience? Guess those days are long gone….

Ha, I also started a chat and after trying all the suggestions also mentioned here the advisor transferred me to a senior agent. He called me and started a screen sharing session so he could see my iPhone screen, see my settings and was able to tell me where to tap…

the issue remained and now have a link to him, just waiting for the next iOS update 17.1 before trying again and reporting…

Someone on here said they had to start downloading the app that the child wants and then cancel the download before it would let them decline or approve the request. I decided to try this method. I went back to the text where my child’s app requests come through in, and tapped on view in store. I then tapped download, and then cancelled it before it finished downloading. I went back to the text message from my child and the app request now showed approve or decline. I hit approve and it worked like it used to. Not sure what is up with that. Took me a year to figure out a workaround. I even had to manually turn off ask to buy for everytime she wanted something and manually turn it on once the process was complete. It was ridiculous!

There are two ways to request an app from the child's device

1.) When you search for an app, you're presented with a list of apps. Each app in the list has a "Get" button next to it to request the app for download. (Shortcut version)

2.) After searching for the app you can select the app name to view the full description of the app. This page has a "Get" button as well.

Someone mentioned option 2 worked for them but only option 1 worked for me. May want to try both. Also unsure if this will be a reliable method or just lucked out.

Please fix!

I've been strugling with this for more than an year and no steps help. Nor restarting, nor changing the devices names. I have many Apple products but all of them are under one account and my kid has only one iPhone with its personal account. Its been too long and its really time this to get fixed because I cannot install a signle app on my kids phone.
