Reset the Home Screen Layout:

If the screen has gone black, then try resetting the Home Screen Layout...

A. Lean More Here: Move and organize apps on iPhone - Apple Support

B. Note: You'd have to add back all the widgets that you can recall being back on there. So, prior to the reset, take a few screenshots of each Home Screen: Take a Screenshot on your iPhone - Apple Support

C. How to Perform the Reset:

Scroll to: Reset the Home Screen and Apps to their Original Layout

1. Go to: Settings
2. Tap: General
3. Tap: Reset
4. Tap: Reset Home Screen Layout
5. Then... Add the apps back

Troubleshooting an iPhone in a Boot Loop:

Perhaps it is stuck in a boot loop? This can occur when updating, and it got stalled while in the process.  So, use MY User Tip: How to Fix an iPhone in a Boot Loop - User Tip

That didn't help at all.
