iCloud storage keeps kicking out family members

I have been having this issue for months - Glad to see I am not alone. I was the newest addition to the family plan that I use, and I am the only one being kicked out of the 2TB of data at the same time every month.

I have called Apple Support yet again, and they submitted another ticket. I referenced this post on the call.

This is still an issue. Recently added my new work iPhone to my Apple One Premier plan, and it kicks that account/phone off of the iCloud+ subscription. (All other shared services are fine.) It happens literally within hours. I’ve dropped/added the account several times in the past few days, and it keeps happening. Also tried signing out/signing back in, and resetting. Nothing works. Both phones are on the latest iOS (17.1). It being a work phone, I’m sure I’ll burn through the free 5GB pretty quickly.

And it’s only happening to the one account; my wife has been on my Apple One Premier for years now with no issues.

Are you saying Apple would part with a new subscriber for iCloud because they can sort whatever issue they have in the background?

Your work account was probably using a small portion of the storage. It never seems to kick out the heaviest user. It is ridiculous at this stage.

I just can't fathom how this issue is not more widespread.

If I understand correctly, you are saying:

• Remove family member X from Family Sharing from device A.
• Open Settings on another iOS device where family member X should still be there as it would not have refreshed to reflect the change.
• Remove that very same family member X once more time.
• Add X back in Family Sharing.

Would love it if it is that simple (or if Apple would just make our life easier by fixing the issue).

I just ran into this today. I suspect others will to since there is a major update. From 16.7 to 17. It would be better to give a warning then just boot you out of a plan.

"The latest release of Apple iOS has new security features that will continue providing you with -yadda- yadda- Please update to the latest release to avoid problems."

I’m so glad that it’s not just me experiencing this I swore my phone was just messed up my partner keeps having to readd me and it’s so annoying

This keeps happening to me too… need a fix. I use more storage than the others in my family but I’m not the organizer if that helps.

Yes and yes here! It’s my son that keeps getting kicked off, but I’m the family organizer—he definitely has the most space used/heaviest user. It’s so frustrating!!!

Same issue

every other month or so everyone on my family plan gets kicked out of the family iCloud storage myself included as the organizer.

I was close, kicked my son off again.

Never mind, that account got kicked off of its own regular iCloud+ account too. It literally refunded the $0.99 charge to the account. Unreal.
