Can someone please help me understand the display attached? The line adjacent to each day varies in length and colour and has a white dot on today. The length of the line doesn’t seem to match the period when rain is due. I’m mystified.

For your Included screenshot, the full width line would indicate the range of temperatures over the 10 day period. Specifically, this would be a low of 3° and a high of 17°. For each day, it indicates where the expected low and high fall within that 3° to 17° range The white dot indicated the “Today” line indicates the present temperature on that range.

You are welcome. The varying length of the lighter coloured line is due to the temperature range for that particular day. If you note the length of the line for the first Saturday in your screenshot, you see it is the longest, because the anticipated temperature range is 3° to 16°, a range of 13°. Conversely, for the “Today” line it is the shortest, because it is forecasted to be from 6° to 12°, a range of only 6°.

Thank you - this covers part of my question very well.

I still don't understand why the line against each of the ten days varies in length: if the colour of the line gives an idea of the temperature change through the day, then I would expect it to represent 24hrs. I wondered if it somehow was also connected to precipitation but I can't see how that could be.

Yes, the change in temperature shown as a colour gradient and the white dot showing time today is all clear.

But the varying length???
