According to macrumors there is a way to turn off notifications for AirTags, but not AirPods.
I am a parent of two and am set up as the "Organizer" of this family in iCloud settings, yet I am constantly getting notifications from Apple because my children bring their AirPods in the car.
It seems there would be a way to choose which devices are safe to be traveling with me based on family settings and devices.
