What do symbols next to mail messages in Apple Mail mean?

We have noticed tiny little symbols next to some messages which somehow have placed in Apple Mail's "Junk" folder. I believe the international circle with a line through it means the sender is blocked, which makes on wonder why I even see the message at all, if it is blocked, it shouldn't be there.

The other looks to me like a coffee cup with an "x" in the cup part.

Does anyone know what this might mean? I thought perhaps it was an option to immediately trash it, but if I click on it, Mail just opens the message.

But how about the black "coffee cup with an x in the cup part" shown in the original post? What does that mean?

The Blocked icon  appears next to the sender’s name in the message list and a banner is added to their messages to indicate they’re blocked. The banner also provides a link to the Blocked pane of Mail settings, where you can manage blocked senders.
