MacOS 13.4 Ventura - External Monitor no longer detected. Worked until the update to 13.4

Unplugging AC from monitor helped in my case too. Somethings wrong since 13.4.(1).

I believe that Anker hub requires DisplayLink software, is that right? If so, updating DisplayLink is probably all you need.

Did you try swap the cables to external monitors yet ?

If the second monitor comes up and the first one does not, it may be the same as mine, I think one of the USC-C ports is out of service.

My DisplayPort KVM switch also stopped working. It took a while to find this one that actually works - and it did perfectly until I updated to 13.4.1 (22F82) - now it doesn't recognize the USB- to DP monitor signal. Peripherals work.

I did the steps to delete the file and at least now it works with a direct connection. But Apple broke the KVM support in the latest update.

I just confirmed my MacBook Air M2 (OSX10.31a) works fine but when my M1 Macbook Air OSX 13.4 is connected to same setup the extended doesnt work. The monitor works but one I swipe screens it swipes both on the laptop and 27inch while in Extended Display mode.

Can you use usb-c port to other devise ?

Because I have same situation and I thaught issue cause by video signal. But my MBA’s usb-c port can’t connect other devise too. I can use other one port.

I use adopt daisy chain MBA→(usb-c)→DELL monitor→(usb-c)→Thunderbolt doc.

Of course this is not a legitimate solution as my usb-c port remains unusable, pending an update resolution by Apple, but I hope this helps everyone.

I took my new Mac Air upgraded with 13.4 to a trade show expecting to mirror and use an external monitor to playback a video I created. The external monitor worked the first time I tried this via USB-C to HDMI, but it would suddenly drop out every few seconds. I suspected a cable issue or HDCP, but changing to a brand new cable(s) did not work. I spent HOURS trying to get the thing to work. The computer could see the monitor and the monitor could see the computer. I tried every toggle and permutation in system settings (stupid iphone like crap now). Suddenly, it worked - the video played for several hours and all was well. But I had to shut down after the show ended for the day. Next day the issue reappeared right off the bat. External monitor would come on, show me the laptop desktop and then go black or green. I spent hours hair pulling and trying all the same permutations and IT.NEVER.WORKED.AGAIN!

It is OBVIOUSLY HDCP. (Is my desktop now copy protected from my own stuff? This reminds me of how Apple refused to pay for firewire and suddenly my entire library was unplayable! No, I haven't forgotten that Apple!) I have had Apple computers since 1995 - and I never hated them as much as I do now for their total incompetence and disregard for the video professionals who kept them alive before Gates injected them with enough money to keep them from sinking. BOOOOOOO!!!!!!

So that may be a contributing factor as well like it is for me. I hope it goes back to the way it was!

i was also facing same issue once i updated my Mac 1 actually am a video editor and i have to connect my system with 2 to 3 displays more.

Oh btw, my second montor is plugged into a USB port on my hub with a HDMI to USB connector from Plugable.

I just tried that and it didnt work. So annoying. Shouldve just left it as OS X 13 because everytime you update sh*t like this happens. Ridiculous Apple!

For the record. I have a M1 Macbook Air connected via USBC to a LG 4k USBC port

I have a Dell U4919DW that completely stopped working altogether after updating to 13.4, at least with the USB-C cable. I also have an Apple Studio Display, and that actually still works.

I have a similar issue after upgrading to Ventura 13.4. I'm connecting my M2 laptop to an external display using USBC. The display works fine but the peripherals (keyboard and mouse) connected (with USB) to display stopped working after the upgrade. Before the upgrade, they all were working fine.

Anyone has an idea as to how to fix it?

I have a MacMini M2 Pro and I've always used two monitors on it, both the same: LG 27 144hz. One of the monitors I use via direct HDMI and the other via cable on the usb cable c > displayport.

Today I was away from the computer for about 2 hours and when I returned the monitor on the right, which I use via usb c > displayport, stopped being recognized on the MacMini.

There was no power outage while I was away, because when I got back everything was on. Nobody moved. Absolutely nothing happened. Even this morning it worked correctly.

Note: I have a Macbook M1 Pro from the company that I work from and the second monitor is working on it (using an hdmi cable), giving indications that the problem is supposedly in the usb c > displayport cable.

Everything was working until today morning...

Same for me. I am so tired of this kind of sloppy crap. If I wanted to put up with OS glitches all the time I'd just use windows. When the M1 first came out, it was more than 6 months before they got the OS fixed so that I could use an external display connected via USB-C to DisplayPort. Then it worked fine for a couple years (aside from the constant wake/sleep/wake... cycle the Mac would do to the monitor. And now with OS 13.4 they brought back the original bug! Yes, I can use HDMI but thanks to the cheap implementation of HDMI 2.0 instead of 2.1, I can only output 100Hz over HDMI vs 144Hz over usb->dp. Seriously apple, get your act together and FIX THIS!
