Unable to load video / An error occurred while loading a higher-quality version of this video

Did my message just got deleted from this thread?? I updated my situation. So most of my videos are apparently gone… yes, apple responded to me and my videos are gone!! So im not happy right now, i got like 4000 videos on icloud since launch of iphone 4… and they say theres nothing they can do… sorry my bad english but yea this is the situation now.. like 1/3 of the videos get this error message..

Thanks for talking to support. That is the only way that these types of issues will be addressed.

Is there anything different about the videos that play and don't play.

I found my issue only was with MP4 videos with the H.264 codec.

Any videos recorded on my phone with HEVC codec did not have the issue.

Had the same topic several time. One video is still not accessible after almost one year.

All videos have in common: their size - longer than 6 minutes.

My current "frozen" video is edited on the iphone. I was able to replay it after deleting editing features. But still I cannot upload or share anything or dublicate.

Very frustrating. I am really thinking about recording on oldschool cameras again. Since Jobs is no more, things are getting worse anyways. I am sticking to apple as long as I can feel his soul. Once this is vanished, I will change systems completely and do some brain jogging.

Not sure if this was what resolved this, but I had the same errors. Turning off the phone once I think resets some settings. I could play my videos again.

I am also experiencing this issue, videos that I have created in final cut pro and added to the my photos library, are now receiving the error message Unable to load video / An error occurred while loading a higher-quality version of this video. This is accross multiple phones and users as the videos are also in a shared album.

Yes, I have done the same - they sent me a link to report to the Photos team. They seemed to accept it might be an issue, but then by faith was tested when he said 'and we will release an update to iOS'. I reminded him it was Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV....... :-). It is reported though.

Apple support, what a joke. Won't even look at the issue until I apply 17.1.1 to my iPhone.

Told them that the problem is visible from the shared album public link when viewed from any other device or computer.

It has nothing to do with the phone.

Update. I Called apple support. They didn’t know whats up with this. They said i should check my icloud.com and check are videos there. I did check it but looks like videos on icloud.com dont show before 2021. So tomorrow I will call them again and say that my videos before 2021 are not visible in icloud.com. This is really worrying. But then again I know that they are not all gone because some of the videos do work. But most of my videos before 2021 get this error message. This is a icloud problem and this sucks!! Again, network works fine, there is free strorage on my iphone and I have latest Ios installed. This is fairly new problem i think this problem started about 1-2 months ago…

I'm having the same issue. I can't view the video at all and it doesn't appear in the icloud browser. Only affecting videos of 4k and 30 fps, everything else is fine. I can't edit and then duplicate the video. I can't share the video to any other platform. Viewing the video file in windows file explorer shows a smaller file size than the iphone reports, so I suspect there's a chunk of data missing in the cloud somewhere that I can't download.

this happened to me recently and I realized that all the videos where I'm getting this "unable to load video" error, were recorded when my phone was at best below 20% battery.

some are short clips, some longer, but the error is the same and I remember the point in the day where I noticed I was in the red on battery, and those are the only ones I'm getting the error.

so, maybe a preventative note for future shoots.

Hey guys I think I know why it’s happening and how to solve this! It usually happens with airdropped, shared videos, or edited videos that were not taken on your phone. The reason why this may be happening is because the other person simply had a higher quality phone than you (or lower) and your phone fails to load the full quality version if this exact video. The reason on how your can solve this is to accept all the software updated, keep updating your phone, and try to avoid taking videos on other peoples devices, but apple, this shouldn’t have to be a problem, I know your doing all you can to fix this but I hope this comment is the solution to some of your problems.

I’m having this problem as well. Videos I made in iMovie and then added to a shared album are showing this error for all users. Including me. Even though I can view the Same videos from my local albums.

I am seeing the same problem too.

If I put a mp4 / H.264 video in my shared folder it won't play. effects new uploads as well as older videos in shared folder that have been there for months and played just fine until the last week.
