Unable to load video / An error occurred while loading a higher-quality version of this video

My videos from i cloud are mostly gone! I had like 4000 videos on there since iphone 4 launch.. and 2/3 of them are gone. And apple support said they cant do anything about it. Most of the videos before 2021 get this error message… not good news i mean if you concider that these videos are worth more than money to me. Everything is there and i have trusted apple…

I have stupidly bought a new iPhone, with more storage space and I still can't access my videos or photos. I will never buy Apple again. it is clear this is an issue with hundreds of users complaining of this issue yet it is not being spoken of. This needs addressing.

All these suggested workarounds are welcome and thank you for sharing. BUT this is still some Bull shed from Apple. If I spell correctly, I'd probably get banned but whatever. What the duck is this nonsense from Apple who makes tens of billions of dollars from just iCloud services? Maybe just hire a small team of engineers who focus on these problems would be nice. Imagine buying a brand new car, and suddenly it wouldn't start. But the only way to work around it is to turn the air conditioner one and off 150 times and then honk 10 more times or whatever to get it working. It's just nonsense. Hope this post doesn't disappear. lol

Ridiculous Apple is letting this happen to hundreds of people. Same issue here. They're locking me out of viewing or using MY OWN VIDEOS and I pay for cloud storage!! They need to seriously prioritize fixing this.

I’m having the same issue. It’s very frustrating to try access older photos and videos from iCloud Photo Library.

I have been using the “tap edit and wait for it to download before hitting cancel” method for years to try circumvent the issue but it is not always reliable.

My suggestion to Apple is to add a new feature that would allow certain albums, eg. Favourites to be able to be kept offline always in a similar way you can do this with Apple Music, or photos on Watch.

For now, I’m waiting for a fix that seems to never come.

Most recent test: numerous high res photos and videos from both iPhone and drone footage not loading at all, even with 500mbps 5G connection.

I’ve had this same problem so I tried deleting some videos even though I know it’s not the storage cause I have tons in my phone and when I went to check back the videos that were saying that, all the ones that had that pop up disappeared

The duplication trick works for me but what a pain! I hope Apple can find a fix for this. Strangely enough it's not affecting all my videos but can't figure out what the commonality is (it's not the length or even how old they are... seems to be quite random as far as I can tell).

Me too, exact same time frame. But I think it’s finally been fixed with the new update! I just went to try to look at an old video that would never load and it did! I then went back further and majority of the videos are playing! So try updating your iOS if you haven’t already and see if it’s working again

I have the same

problem and tried all of Apple’s official and the community’s non official tips. None of it changes anything about the fact that I can’t view video that is over two years old. Please help!

Thanks for the advice, but it totally didn’t work for me. After selecting Edit I get a message saying “Cannot Edit Video. There was an error loading this video.”

I am extremely disappointed in Apple. They should be better than this.

Thank you SOOOO much gthomasNY, I was beginning to despair. Then realised I could still watch these videos on my laptop so I knew they weren’t really corrupted as I’d previously thought. Now just got a long slog going through duplicating and deleting almost all my older (ie more precious) videos .

Apple please fix this!!!

Same issue here, contacted Apple few times they have no idea.

It seems to be only my H.264 videos. They are all 30 fps and 1080p HD.

Do you know when it started?

Is it just newly uploaded videos or all videos?

I discovered it yesterday. I know the videos worked one month ago (when I last shared one of them), so it started sometime after that. It’s affecting all the videos of that type, old and new.
