Unable to load video / An error occurred while loading a higher-quality version of this video

Dear Team,

on many of my older photos and videos, i get the „Unable to load video“ pop-up as mentioned in the title. I tried everything fixing it: i forced a restart of the iphone, i‘m up to date with the software, i have 70GB free to use storage, i toggled the „favorite“ butten on and off, disconnected the photos galery from icloud and turned it back on, turned on „download and keep originals“, but nothing works. Do you have an idea how to solve this?

Hello fellow iPhone users, I’ve found the solution to everyone’s issue.

Select the video you wish to play.
Next after you get the unable to load video message press ok.
Next you want to click edit video from the top right corner.
You’ll then see the video being downloaded.
Lastly click cancel and enjoy your video. (Make sure you have storage cause otherwise it might not work)

I’m having the same issue as well. Right around October. Extremely frustrating when I’m paying for 1TB iCloud storage and can’t access photos of my son when he was a baby! Apple, please fix!!!

If you need to download the full video from iCloud onto your device to watch that video, that is not a solution but a complete abysmal failure of any paid video sharing/streaming service.

Unfortunately when I try this I get a popup that says "Cannot start editing: photos cannot load edits for this video" :( glad it works for you though!

Tried this. Error popped up saying "cannot duplicate video" "an error occurred while duplicating this video, please try again later".

Hey keyboard warrior, this doesn't work with older videos that were not backed-up to iCloud.

I’m having the same problem, my phones up to date, I’ve tried restarting it several times and my internet connection is fine, tried the favourite on and off trick and it still didn’t work

Accepting the terms an conditions for iCloud fixed the problem.

How? Where? It's not offering me the option to do this.
