Lately I’ve noticed a problem in Safari and only on the iPad. A vertical box appears on the right side of the search results pages blocking that part of the screen. It doesn’t move when I scroll up and down. Also, it doesn’t matter whether it’s in dark or light mode. iPad OS 16.5

I opened google and clicked on the gear for quick settings. Turned off search customizations. That made my blank box go away. Don’t know if it will work for everyone.
As I said it’s likely a problem in the new iPadOS 16.5 update most likely a scaling issue for the iPad. Since this is a user to user interface I cannot help you with an iOS problem as that is a closed software only for Apple to use. You can contact Apple support at: Official Apple Support
I have also been having the issue for about a week. I just now updated to 16.5, and it is still happening. It only happens with a Google search while using Safari on the iPad. It does not happen with other search engines or other browser apps. It also does not happen on my iPhone, even when using Safari.
was it happening before the most major update? That being iPadOS 16 or did it start happening after iPadOS 16
Hmm…that’s very unusual considering it’s happening on multiple devices, is it possible that google has a compatibility issue with the current safari version? You said you’re currently on the new iPadOS 16.5 considering it recently came out, it’s possible that the new iPadOS version has brought a compatibility issue with Google on the safari app. So you might have to wait for a new iPadOS update to come out.
Facing the same issue. Has anyone figured out what the root cause is or what the solution is to the issue?
It’s only happening on my iPad. Safari and Google on the Mac mini and iPhone work fine. I reported the issue to Apple via text chat but that person couldn’t help. He suggested I consult with Google but they were no help either.
I’ve got the exact same thing. From before 16.5. I guess Safari is buggy. Kind of surprising to me since the Google results page is likely the most visited page of all. Is QA testing no longer being done?
The same is happening to me too. I think around the same time. I am using Ipad air 5 and my ios is 15.5 (don't like updating). I noticed this problem in Safari google, only Safari google, not other website. So, I downloaded the Chrome app, but noticed the same thing occuring again !! Again, only on google!
Me too and it started happening before I updated to 16.5.
I am still using iPad IOS 16.4.1 and I have the same issue. I will update to 16.5 tonight and see if it prevails.
That's interesting because it doesn't happen when I use the Chrome app. What in the world is going on?

I have the exact same problem. Safari and Google search results only and only on my iPad (running iPadOS 16.5). Google Chrome browser or Google (search) app don’t behave the same way.
