Newly uploaded photo not showing up for attachment to email

I just uploaded a photo from my iPhone to my MacBook Air laptop (just as I did with several others yesterday, with no problems). As usual, it shows up in my "Photos" library. But then when I try to attach it to an email, it doesn't show up in the library, so I can't select it. Yesterday I had no problem attaching newly uploaded photos, and those photos continue to show up as available to attach, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Again, I see the newly uploaded photo in the library when I go directly into the Photos app, but not when I try to attach to email.
