For about two months, probably after upgrading the iOS my battery on my 14 Pro will drain 80% in eight hours with all apps closed and in airplane mode or with wifi or with cellular. It came on suddenly, and Apple support has no solutions. And Apple care has no way of knowing what apps or services that are actually running in the background that’s causing the drain.

Is your iPhone hot?
My experience says this is purely caused by some third-party app that you may have installed.
I am not aware of the ambient temperature in which you are using the iPhone. However --> Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable ...
Store the device where the temperature is between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F). Don’t leave the device in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.
Use iOS devices where the ambient temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might cause the device to change its behavior to regulate its temperature. Using an iOS device in very cold conditions outside of its operating range might temporarily shorten battery life and could cause the device to turn off. Battery life will return to normal when you bring the device back to higher ambient temperatures. Using an iOS device in very hot conditions can permanently shorten battery life.

I have exactly the same issue but on all my iOS devices. It seems it's coming from an insane amount of traffic going to and from iCloud. If you reset your mobile data stats and come off wifi you should see what I mean, it is doing about a gb in 10 mins. Not backing up just "messaging services", I have just done some analysis on my wifi network and all the data is coming from iCloud, so when you drop off wifi it's hammering the data connection. Sadly I don't have a fix yet I am still working on it, but wanted you to know your not alone.
After updating to iOS 16.5, my iPhone 14 is getting very hot during use even when not charging. No overheating message, but enough heat to cause discomfort. My Face ID also started failing and won't let me set up an alternative appearance. I've had this phone for barely three weeks. It was working seamlessly until after the iOS 16.5 update.
I am having the same problem with my iPhone 14 after the iOS 16.5.1 update. I never had any problems at all before the update with heating or overheating or any messages about stopping my charging because my phone was getting hot. Plus, my iPhone battery now drains rapidly. I have to charge it all the time now. This is the truth. This is happening and I would like to know what Apple is going to do about it. Instead of ignoring it because it’s true it’s happening after the update. Help us please. We really need help with this please I just bought this phone a few months ago in. In February I never had any problems with it until after the update. A lot of people have told me that they don’t like to upgrade or update their phones. Now I know why. Please help us.
Same issue here. Went to bed with 100% woke up 7 hours later at 19% didn’t use the phone at all….what is going on????
phone constantly stops charging because temp too hot yet battery health continues to say 100% so can’t get it fixed…feels shady.

Me too! All better. Check out the image below. Yesterday, 250% battery, meaning I had to charge it twice to get six hours versus today less than 50% of the battery for six hours after upgrading to 16.6!
did iOS 17 fix the heat and battery issue?
🍎 has become 🤡 In one year my iPhone 14 pro max battery depleted to 92% capacity. My last iPhone 7 Plus lasted 6 years by the end of it, the battery capacity was at 78%
