i updated to iOS 16.5 yesterday and i want to go back but apple stopped signing iOS 16.4 today 🥲

I was having the same problems and upgraded to iOS 16.6 and it is fixed!

For about two months, probably after upgrading the iOS my battery on my 14 Pro will drain 80% in eight hours with all apps closed and in airplane mode or with wifi or with cellular. It came on suddenly, and Apple support has no solutions. And Apple care has no way of knowing what apps or services that are actually running in the background that’s causing the drain.

Luckily there’s a fix… upgrade to IOS 16.6 and your battery issues will go away! Not sure what was wrong with IOS 16.5? But it caused the phone to heat-up and use battery power at an alarming rate!
Update to 16.6 and that should fix it as it has for everyone else who commented above.
Mine goes from 100% to 80% within a couple of hours now with all apps closed and no location tracking. This started about 1 month ago.
Wont disabling cellular data under iCloud fix this issue, at least when not connected to WiFi?
What needs to be done to stop excessive battery drain
Turn off 5g completely and it should last!
Unfortunately I’m encountering the same issue with IOS 16.6 and the iPhone 14. Apple does not appear to have any meaningful solutions and won’t even acknowledge that this is a common issue :/
This is definitely the update that caused this. I swear My 13 pro max was at 100% battery life prior to updating now at 95%????
247 cycles and battery health remains 88%, is that normal?
