My iPhone 12 all of a sudden couldn’t focus the camera. At the same time, when using the camera, it makes a scratching electric sound in short pulses. Hard restart will not solve the issue. Is this a known problem and how do you fix it?

ok so i went to the genius bar and after running diagnostics they saw my 1x and 2x lenses were broken (i guess the OIS but they didn’t specify). it would’ve been almost $500 to fix it since my screen was cracked so i just got a new phone but like why are we all having this issue in the past two months…..it’s a conspiracy theory i’m actually interested in

I am having the same issue iphone mini 12 purchased after launch (2020).
The camera works okay at focus under 1x. I heard the noise a few times but it doesn't happen always.
I’m having the same issue the last week or two probably. Has anyone come up with a way to fix this, aside from getting a new phone?

Same issue here. It only happens with main rear standard lens. Front camera, an ultra wide lens (0.5x zoom out) work well.

iPhone 12 mini. I have the exact same issue. It started a few weeks ago. It does okay taking pictures when zoomed out. When zoomed in, it can’t focus. How frustrating. 😒
Do you mind me asking what app this is? I really want to still be able to take photos with my phone!

Update to my previous post. I installed ProCamera and thought that it was working fine, but it wasn’t. Seems super sketchy that we are all having this problem. We all dropped our phones the same way?
I have updated to the newest software version, reset the iphone and settings and still not working.
