Can't remove accounts from Email / Internet accounts

Hi,

I've added to old iCloud accounts to Email app to check old emails.

I disabled them and tried to remove them completely from my OS, but it says:

"The iCloud account “...@icloud.com” is shared by other applications on this Mac."

"You can remove this account in Internet Accounts."

So I navigate to Internet Accounts, I select account and click "Delete Account", it's redirecting me to previous page, the account is gone from the list for 2 seconds and then it's back again.

When it's back, the account has label "Unknown - Inactive", unless I click on it and it does change the label to email address.

How do I get rid of these 2 old accounts?

Thanks in advance.

Mac mini, macOS 13.4

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and try removing the accounts from there. Then reboot normally.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.
