I can't make calls from Messages in MacOS Mojave using iPhone

Hello,

I have changed my iMac and moved from High Sierra to Ventura but due to incompatible applications I restored again to Mojave (10.14.6)

The issue I have is with Messages.

Although my iPhone number was set correctly I cannot use Messages to make calls from iPhone. For some reason, Messages try to use Skype Business to make call! That was never the case to High Sierra.

I removed Skype completely but message remains the same!

iPhone option (Using iPhone) appears normally when I select a number to call.

Also, I can send iMessages to somebody from iMac and I received back a reply but only to iMac (not to my iPhone). When I send a message from iPhone, I received a reply from the same person only to iPhone and not to iMac.

And the crazy part is that when I've tried to test from the same person's phone to make a FaceTime call, I received the call to iPad!!! Neither to iPhone nor to iMac. Is it crazy or I am loosing something here?

Any advise would be appreciated!

Ok problem solved!

First step, in iMac Go to FaceTime preferences and replaced in "Default for calls" Skype with FaceTime itself!! (I don't have a clue how Skype was put in priority)

Second step, I've made some changes in iPhone Settings.

Sorry if the actual names are different but I make the translation from Greek language. Probably, even in Greek, the screenshots will give you an idea

A. First in Settings> FaceTime> You are available in FaceTime via:

- <Phone number>
- <my Apple ID> in which I added my apple ID as it was appearing only my phone here

B. Then in Settings> Phone> Calls(?)>To other devices (?)

- I've check the option to allow call to close devices on the same wifi network. Note that when I tried to enable this option before step A, I had an error message that is not allowed.
- When the calls to close devices is enabled, both my iPad and iMac appear and selected.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

There is Skype that works on Mojave without Classic. Classic is old! That goes back to 2005 machines.

You apparently kept a really old version of Skype on your computer.

has a version that works on 10.11 or later.

Yes, the original installation of my user account goes back 2-3 iMacs...since 2011

However, all Skype installations are removed. The question however is why Messages (i really hate the removal of the "i" in from of Apple apps) is linked to call with Skype. I never made this kind of association!

I will try to re-install a new version of Skype in iMac but even if the problem with "Classic environment..." message is solved how I will associate again "Messages" with my iPhone?

Edit: Indeed I installed the newer version of Skype and when I try to make a call by "using iPhone" the Skype opens and tries to make the call!

Any advise from where I can remove this connection in order to be able to use iPhone and not Skype to perform a call from "Messages"?

Although solved, for other users to know, AppDelete is ALWAYS the way I remove installed programs. In this case however the "Skype" association with FaceTime was not removed!

I figured out the solution after the new version of Skype installation, so I don't know if the "Skype option" was appearing in FaceTime (when Skype was removed) but I guess...yes!
