Apple Watch battery drain after Update
I noticed my Apple Watch battery draining very quickly after updating it to 9.5.1. Anyone else? My battery usually lasts 2 days.

Most people are seeing better battery life after 9.5.1. Did you restart your watch, after updating it? If no, restart your watch. Then give it a couple days as after any OS update, your watch has to reindex all of its data, which depending on how much memory you're using, can take a couple days.
Apple Watch that age will need a new battery.
I'm on the latest firmware, I did a few times full reset, but the battery is dying very fast
Before: 24 hours on series 8, now it's 10 hours or less
Charge it every night if you don't use sleep monitoring
All the tests have been laid out in the preceding 5 pages

i noticed that the compass was always on today and there is a feature that tracks your steps and allows you to backtrack your steps. I’m wondering if that was responsible for the battery drain.
Battery should be changed by Apple at 79%
I'm using an apple watch ultra and didn't notice exactly when my battery started draining; just that it was only lasting me about 10-12h!! I went in and deleted a bunch of applications thinking something was hogging the battery. turned off notifications. I mean seriously I am about to wipe my watch and start from scratch. getting ready to go on a dive vacation, which is the whole reason I got the watch in the first place - to be a secondary dive computer. so when I barely get a days use out of it's concerning. I only hope that this issue is resolved with future updates.
and yes. I tried turning off/on my watch multiple times.
Just as many peope have said that 9.5.2 has cured the battery problem in 9.5.1 so the claims are illogical for both.
And you cannot go back a version.

work through it particularly looking at iPhone software and cleaning it up.
Add one more to the after updating to 9.5.2 my battery life hit 10% after 9 hours. I want the same battery life I had 3 days ago.
I haven't installed any new apps except the update. I'll check out this link you posted. I have powered it off and on as someone in another thread said it resolved this issue so I'm trying that first and then go through the other versions of "Turn it on and Off again".
Mine used to last 2 days now it’s 6 hours. I unpaired it, wiped it clean, restarted and it’s still 6 hours. I am pretty upset about this. It’s ridiculous that I can’t trust it to work and have to take it off to recharge it. It’s becoming useless and I won’t be buying another one. My iPhone 14 Max Pro is now all glitchy with the latest update! Come on Apple you need to fix this!
I am normally one to take my watch off at night and either set it on the nightstand or charger. I’ve been wearing it for 2.5 days straight having charged it to full/100%
3.I got two full days from my apple watch ultra without needing to charge it. When I went to bed at the end of the 2nd full day, I still had 82% of battery left. When I woke up this morning I had 40% battery left. I’ve been awake for 40min and now have 36min remaining.
So my battery drained by 42% over night (on the third night).
Might try these - all of them.

It is your portfolio of software combined with the update, or your battery, that is causing it, not the update on its own.

yes same problem here,
it is infuriating ,
Apple is probably playing their tricks of trying to force people to upgrade again.
fix this please
Apple is doing no such thing and asking Apple to fix anything here isn't going to help you. This is a user to user only forum and no one from Apple is here. Just other users.
How many of the suggestions in this 4 page thread have you actually tried? I have absolutely no battery drain on either of the Apple watches we own. How can Apple be expected to fix something, which isn't a universal issue anyway. If your battery is draining faster, you need to do some troubleshooting. Read the thread and try the suggestion posted by other users.
The software problem is most probably in your iphone.
If you don't want to go through all the options presented many times above (ok so you didn't read any of it) then do this

Unfortunately switching off optimised battery failed.
Will try unpairing devices and see if that works.
Looks like Apple are doing the old known trick of making their devices spill out battery power to force the consumer to upgrade! 🙄
Read the user tip again.
The three Scenarios allows you to replace the “years” of setup from backup.
Totally razed phone is the last resort of the Ultimate stage of the diagnosis.
If that doesn’t work then one needs to call Apple support because that suggests hardware, This OS works on every vanilla setup combo, guaranteed.
