Your iCloud Storage is full - fake or real emails?

Hi All,

I am receiving emails that look pretty real. However I am already on iCloud + 200GB plan and my settings show that I have plenty of available storage over 120GB. I have been ignoring these emails because there are no messages when I log into iCloud to validate them. I have noticed that today's photos are not in icloud though. I checked the link in the email and it refers to http:/*** I dont know if I should trust and click, so I have not. How can I possibly require an upgrade with 120GB free storage space? Surely iCloud would have the messages for me on the platform, not just an email?

The emails refer to:

'Your iCloud storage is full. As a result, you can no longer send

or receive messages with your iCloud email address, x(my actual email address)x, your

documents, contacts, mail, and device data are no longer backing up to iCloud

and your photos and videos are not uploading to iCloud Photos.

To continue using these iCloud services, you need to upgrade your iCloud storage plan or reduce the amount of storage you are

using.'

Yep, it is a scam email. Your photos showing up today in iCloud is unrelated. Give it some time and they should show up. If they are not there tomorrow, then investigate the iCloud issue further. Do you have it set to sync on Cellular or only when connected to Wifi?

How can I block unwanted text messages

Blocking Text messages is done the same way phone calls are blocked. Unfortunately Text Messages suffer from the same problem as Robocalls and scam calls to your phone where the originating call number is spoofed and likely repeated messages will not come from the same number again, so blocking that initial number has no effect.

Until cell providers are able to crack down on spam calls/texts by verifying the legitimacy of the calling number, there will be hope in trying to keep up with every call that comes in from a different number. When using the Report as Junk option in the message, Apple will forward the information to your cell provider as they are in control of sending the message to you and if it can be stopped by the provider, you will not have to worry about it coming to your phone. Some cell providers are better than others with spam blocking and you can check with them on what options may be available to you.

You can filter the messages that come in, so you only get notified when the text message comes from a person that is in your Contacts.

If a message uses the iMessage service and has an apple.com or iCloud.com originating address, then Apple provides details here on reporting those that use Apple's service.

These are scams. So, report them to Apple. To do so, forward them off to reportphishing@apple.com. Once reported, delete these eMails. Then, delete them from Trash and Archived folders. Block out this sender.

Report, then Delete this eMail:

This is a Scam. Apple is not going to look up your storage, and tell you how much storage you have, and where to go from here. The sis YOUR resposibitly to keep an eye on where things are. So, report this to Apple by forwarding it to reportphishing@apple.com. Then, trash the eMail from your Archive and Trash folders. You're safe, as long as you don't click anything in that eMail.

I keep getting texts saying my iCloud is full is this a scam

If you are receiving a Text, then it is a scam. Apple does provide an email to your Apple ID address when that is the case, but as always, you should not click any links provided in an email that will require personal information. This can be easily faked. The correct action would be to verify the iCloud storage yourself by going to Settings > [name on top] > iCloud.
