New recovery contact email received

I just had the same thing happen, claiming that my recovery contacts have changed, when I made no change. I called Apple and they just told me to change my password. I'm worried someone was in my account.

Have you checked your actual on-device recovery contacts to ensure that nothing has changed?

If you’re “good” there, it’s possibly some sort of phishing scam.

Or it might be caused by something simple like one of your real contacts simply updating their software and resending the acknowledgement message. (that’s ONLY a hypothetical guess on my part).

As well we ALL should … the threat is REAL and never-ending.

Not meaning to sound paranoid; we all just need to “always check” … especially when any unexpected or unsolicited messages arrive.

… you’re certainly in good shape and you can most likely safely chalk this up to a “glitch.”

That said you can (and perhaps should) Contact Apple for help with Apple ID account security - Apple Support if there is one iota of lingering-doubt in your mind.

Hi, I just did today. Apple email is legit. I have checked and there are No changes to my account recovery contact. I did add one a month ago or two. So, no idea what is going on. I have checked and checked and nothing has changed apart from Apple Recovery services also appearing as an account recovery contact. However, this only shows on my iPad, not on my phone and not on my iMac. Bizarre. Can’t work it out. Dreading having to change my Apple ID password but will have to now, as from what I can see it is not clear whether a glitch or a real issue.
