"Recents" Photo Folder not showing every picture?

My IPhone 14 used to show every picture taken in a "Recents" folder, but now it isn't showing every picture.

I don't have any filters set and iCloud is disabled. Its set to include photos shared from Messages (and is actually showing *more* of those photos than the photos I actually took with the iPhone itself).

Is this a known glitch, and is there a way to fix it? Is the phone intentional filtering/curating which photos appear in the Recents folder, and if so is there a way to disable this filtering?

When you add photos to your Shared Library, they are removed from your personal Library.

You may want to check the Settings on your iPhone, if you have set it to share the photos straight from the Camera, as described here: (How to use iCloud Shared Photo Library - Apple Support)

In that case you will be seeing new photos only in your shared library, not in your personal library.

  • Go to Settings > Photos, then tap Shared Library. Tap Sharing from Camera and make sure it's not turned on.

Just to be sure - have you compared the numbers of photos below the Recents album and the All Photos album?

Are the numbers of photos and videos identical or not? There are two differences between Recents and All Photos:

  • The two albums are sorted differently. Photos from All Photos may be missing in Recents because they are appearing sorted by the date added and not the date taken.
  • The All Photos album is also showing My Photos Stream, but Recents is not. If you have been using My Photo Stream, the numbers may differ.

You're trying to tell me that Recents are Library are the same? They aren't showing the same things. Not all photos that I take are showing up in recent. Not all photos that I take are showing up in recent. Not all photos that I take are showing up in recent. Not all photos that I take are showing up in recent. Not all photos that I take are showing up in recent. Listen to what I am telling you.

I have this same issue; over the past month or so, i am missing literally hundreds of pictures. These pictures are not disappearing, but rather, not syncing to the iCloud. I have comical amounts of storage available, and have all of my settings correctly enabled to sync my photos.

of the 22,000+ photos i have in my iCloud, why is it only now that they are having this issue? I am so confused and i wish apple would respond to my feedback submission lmao

BAM!!

Hello!! I took several photos last night at a party and this morning they were all gone. Couldn’t find them. I even thought maybe I was taking pics off someone else’s phone thinking it was mine. I just bought the iPhone 15 Pro Max, I was worried my phone just got rid of those pictures on its own.

After taking some deep breaths, and keeping chill about it, I finally found my pics..in my shared library. Never happened that way before.
