Is it possible to easily take a 3 inch DVD out of the the drive of a 21.5" iMac (Mid 2011) . A 4.5 is standard disk?

Power down and unplug the iMac.
Tip the iMac on its side with the SuperDrive down and gently shake.
The mini dvd should slide out far enough to get a hold of.
If not, then you need to take more drastic measures like using double sided tape on a piece of thin cardboard or a wire with a small hook on the end.
Also try some double backed tape on a credit card.
There are two standard sizes for CDs (and DVDs and Blu-Ray discs). The regular size and a smaller circular size. Many players with horizontal-loading trays will take the small discs and have indents in their trays to help you load them. But most vertically-mounted drives don’t support the small discs at all.
Due to the age of the iMac, you may not find an Apple Store or Apple Certified Service Provider willing to take it apart, disassemble the DVD drive, and liberate that small form factor DVD.
