Hi, I have two Macs, one in a home recording studio and one for other use. On one of the Mac’s, iMac from late 2022 (OS 10.9 Mavericks), my internet does not work since yesterday. Wifi connection is good. Both browsers, Safari and Firefox are not able to do anything. My other Mac the internet is fine. Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be?

10.9 Mavericks will not run on a 2022 Mac.

up to October 15, 2014. All newer Macs can't run Mavericks.
Incidentally the minimum requirements for El Capitan are the same as Mavericks.
That said, Apple menu -> About This Mac will tell you what you are actually running.
The System Report or Profile in the About This Mac window will give you a Machine ID such as iMac x,y.
The x,y value will help us identify which Mac you have if the About This Mac does not.
Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Network will let you determine if you have ethernet or WiFi connectivity. You may need to adapt to ethernet from thunderbolt if present to connect to your modem if the above port is not present.
WiFi connectivity also known as Airport connectivity may fail on 5 Ghz but work on 2.4 Ghz. This can be the case if your WiFi adapter is another room. Check there is send/receive data in the WiFi router happening. If the lights are off, you may need to power cycle the modem first and the WiFi router once the modem shows it has internet. Sometimes the modem and WiFi are the same box.
You can also sometimes make your cell phone into a WiFi hotspot. Let us know if you have an Android or iPhone and we can help you set that up if needed.
Under advanced settings in the Network panel, if the connection is active but only giving you a 169.x.x.x internet address the DHCP lease may need to be renewed. Turn off all proxies, and VPN. The only reason to use VPN is if you are connecting to a school or corporate network where they control the network traffic. In which case, their technical support needs to be contacted to ensure your connectivity is successful.
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Sys Prefs>Network>highlight the Interface you're using>Advanced>TCP/IP>Configure IPv4: Using DHCP.
If using Wifi, instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
System Preferences>Network>choose interface>Advanced>Proxies Tab, make sure none are set, like for HTTP & HTTPS.
System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

Yes. I’ve turned it off which is a promising start because my other iMac that does get wifi is on 2.4 so getting this one onto 2.4 seems like very good idea. I have not tried turning wifi back on and testing it yet because I thought I’d better check that there is nothing obvious I should do first but 5GHz is now off. What is the next step? Thanks again for your help.

PS. 5 GHz has the shortest range, is the most susceptible to interference, has trouble going through walls, etc...
