I can't verify my phone number. It is showing my email address and not my phone number.

I'm having problems with my iMessage. It's showing my email address and not my phone number on my messages and not my phone number. When I go to settings and click on messages, I see both email addresses and my phone number, but it keeps saying verifying next to my phone number. I do not want people to see or know my email without my permission. How can I fix this?

Hello Jenniedoo,

If your messages through iMessage are going through an email address, that would mean you're currently signed into an Apple ID account for messages in Settings > Messages. If you don't want to use the Apple ID email for messages, sign out of it on that page.

If your phone number is currently in the process of activating or verifying, make sure that you can send regular SMS messages on the device. If you're unable to send SMS messages, you'll need to contact your wireless carrier and get that resolved first before you'll be able to activate the iMessage service with a phone number.

If you are able to send SMS messages but the phone number will not activate with the iMessage service, here's some steps you can try: If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime

If you're still unable to activate, you'll want to contact Apple for assistance: Get Support

Cheers!
