.fcpbundle file will not open in FCP?

When I try to open a Library file I get the pop-up message:

"The operation couldn't be completed. Permission denied."

See attached screenshot. This is an external drive I've used before, no issues. There is no other version of the Library on the drive or on my MacBook Pro. I've got read/write permission on the drive itself.

I'm wondering what this might be ... ??

Yo!!!!!!

Duh! S'cuse me guys. Yes. NTSF formatted drive! I updated my NTFS for Mac (great app). And now I can work with that drive as if it were a Mac formatted drive.

Opened the Library easily, updated it for the new FCP. Running beautifully.

I will remember to move all data from the NTSF to an actual Mac formatted drive ... so this problem doesn't show up again in a year. But I think I will remember this phenomena. The clue is the Finder window not functioning normally. And then me actually looking to see how the drive is formatted.

Thank you for all your help L and T. Very very much appreciated.

And now I'm going back to work ....

All the best,

B

Luis,

Cache issue sounds intriguing.

I'll put this drive aside and keep working on the other drives (consolidating media from a ten year project filling a whole box of drives).

I'm curious what you might come up with. Would be so nice to just trash a cache file somewhere and have the problem resolved. Mmmm. I'm going to just see what a 'cache' file search comes up with. Then maybe just move the cache file (not delete) to see if it makes a difference.

Or maybe I'll just wait for your wisdom....

You know, when I click open the errant drive the Finder window that pops up is strange. I have all my drives set in 'As Columns'. This one always opens the Finder window in 'As Icons' mode.

And there is no 'Search' function on the Finder window, nor the Toolbar or Status bar at the bottom listing item number and available space.

I can reset the Finder window to 'As Columns', but when I close and open it again it's automatically gone back to 'As Icons' mode.

I just noticed I can't create a new Folder on the drive.

I pulled a copy of the Library off the drive onto my Desktop ... and it would sort-of open; it would allow me to update the file for the current FCP, but then it wouldn't allow me to relink the files (to the media on the drive). It just froze FCP.

I'm now copying everything from the drive to another drive to see if it's the drive itself that is the issue, whatever that issue might be.

???
