Apple TV+ App Doesn’t Recall Paused Location

I’m watching using the Apple TV+ app on my Amazon Fire TV. If I pause a show, the app does not remember the paused location when I return. I must fast forward and manually attempt to find the location that I left off.

This is true even if I pause and walk away for 5-minutes. The app automatically exits the episode and returns to to show’s main page. If I click on the episode I was just watching minutes prior, it begins the episode from the beginning.
